Star Wars fans will be happy to know that Disney is working on another series whose action takes place in the fantastic universe imagined by George Lucas. This is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
In addition to The Mandalorian and a few other projects from that production, Disney + feels that it can take even more advantage of the Star Wars franchise through high-budget series. For this reason, for about a year, information has appeared online about a series called Obi-Wan Kenobi.
His action will be closer to the first part of the trilogy, and fans will be happy to see Ewan McGregor again in the role that turned him into a world-class star. In addition, Hayden Christensen will return to Star Wars for the first time after a 16-year hiatus from Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The entire cast was shared through a photo you can see below, and in addition to the two lead roles, there are a few more important names, Joel Edgerton (The Gift, The Great Gatsby), Kumail Nanjani (The Eternals, Silicon Valley), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Luther), Rupert Friend (Homeland, Hitman), Sung Kang (Fast & Furious). All in all, it’s obvious we’re not talking about a cheap series.
Through the latest release on Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney announced that filming for the series will begin this April. It is not very clear whether we are talking about a traditional series or a mini-series, the producers currently portray it only as a Star Wars Special Event. The director will be the director of Deborah Chow, who already has a close connection with the franchise after being at the helm of several episodes of The Mandalorian. The action takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin has already become Darth Vader, and Palpatine has reduced the order of the Jedi Knights to zero.
